Summary
The sequel to QUESTER. Allman Buddinger, a Navy SEAL has gone AWOL from the U.S. Navy to take vengeance on the Viet Cong for killing his buddy Al Cattaglini. Allman is an outlaw in a war without laws, known as "The Mud Fox". He fights the Viet Cong by his own rules.
Lieutenant Harry Quester is tasked by the Navy to locate and bring in his best buddy, the Mud Fox. Harry tries to get Allman to "come in", to no avail. The Viet Cong send their best Assassin, Tach the Knife after the Mud Fox. The U.S. Special Operations Group sends their best Assassin, The Vulture, after the Mud Fox.
The Mud Fox meets Abendigo Johnson, a special operations soldier who is AWOL and on the run from the Army, who seeks him for the killing of an officer. The Mud Fox and Abendigo respond to a call from a Province Chief to come to the Nam Cam Forest, a notorious Viet Cong stronghold at the southern end of the Mekong Delta.
The Mud Fox rescues Brenda McAllister, a Red Cross Lady, from a Viet Cong ambush in Can Tho. Brenda is wounded. They escape and head for Nam Cam Forest. Harry follows the Mud Fox, all the time seeking to find Lai, the Eurasian girl he loves, who has disappeared and he suspects is carrying his child.
Harry tries to bring Allman in and find Lai, but becomes involved in the hunt for the notorious Viet Cong leader, Cobra De Mer deep in the snake infested mangrove jungle of the Nam Cam Forest. The ending is a surprise, emotional, action filled sequence that you won't forget!
